Another step up to senescence

Here comes the Monsoon & with it comes the opportunity to celebrate the wet air in conjunction with my Birthday. There’s always a fine connection that I find between them & so I really do not celebrate this single day, it is the entire Monsoon air in the bliss.

With a glass of hot chocolate on the balcony or in a long sunroof drive on the highway or just linger in the muddy Mayanagri roads. These are how I toast those hazy, lazy days of summer. Monsoon also do calls me to Chowpatty.

While my time in School, 14 June would fall on the school re-opening day. I use to be so bashful to dress up my B’day dress with my fav red shiny gum boats (courtesy Monsoon), Carrying new bag & compass box, would distribute chocolates in class & Special notes with some roses to my fav teachers. Later in the evening, my aunts would hurriedly wait to squash my cheeks to wish me (that would turn me painfully red). Along with building friends would cut cake (they are still in the loop) & the next day would go quarreling with my elder brother & sis for snatching away MY VERY OWN gifts & opening them up without my permission.

While my time in College, thread changed but the Monsoon always interfered in a good way though, lectures would get cancel (courtesy Monsoon again) giving the golden opportunity to bunk the lectures to be @ Chowpatty & throw party that was never marked incomplete until we had Gola’s. Moreover, some would dedicate a guitar chords. The other year even cut cake made out of Marie biscuits & @ times we tried some scary foods.
Later few years, B’day just went purely celebrating at home not doing anything flashy but just missed my special people who flew off for higher education/job & some got married & the others just remained absent.
Now that I have stepped one step higher, here I am at this juncture I may find it so not happening in saying, "Thank you for wishing me happy b'day"...I rather flex to smile...Darn to label me snobbish! This is the day I will not count on the calories & later next day may use the strata to fast to compensate or run some extra miles. Nor my busy-wizy aunties do get to squash my cheeks and make it painful also I do miss the brother-sis quarrel while opening up the gift. However, their gestures are warranted a heartfelt thank-you telephone call by me.
My college best friend, called me a day before to wish me from Bangalore and we had a lengthy conversation about life in general – mainly how it twists and turns; never going how we had planned back in our 11th standard to travel around the world. Yes, we both dreamed of Air-hostess. But the situ now is that that she’s married & a mother-to-be & I have just stepped up in the corporate world.
Will just wait to see how is it going to be this Birthday. Alternatively, might do some instant planning.

Happy Birthday to all the June babies…and everyone else too!
I said June babies and not Gemini coz I don’t show any trends of Gemini. As per my birth day-n-time I am a Leo. Dun no whether these really one should consider. Perhaps I hate to be Gemini. But how I really am (with my personal belief) is all that it would take to be a believer in spirituality and materialism both in the same breath as it helps me understand my life & deal a lot in life & keep going. I’m sure as hell do not expect an outpouring of sympathy or congratulations because to me this is what drives me.

I am still going to be posting the rest of the day today (I have a work meeting so I am going to take a half-day off instead of today) so stay tuned for some great day projects after this! Xo, grace
PS: It is that I have been celebrating it right from Friday night itself since my billion dollar-making friends are not available on Monday…My-o-My I am elated.
Dad gave me a bracelet & he will sponsor to buy a cell. I have to be lil extra careful with this new one & treat it like a baby (as I did to my Journals back in College) especially while in high temper not to throw it off …& I am bit skeptical as to what is kept hidden in my Mum’s cupboard for me…tOOtally curious.
